Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)
    Project Description
We invite applications for a Serth and Gates- funded PhD studentship on an exciting interdisciplinary project to evaluate the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)-based technologies to improve disease surveillance. Infectious disease outbreaks can be difficult to identify, control and prevent especially in environments where veterinary infrastructure is poor, resources are scarce and people and their animals may be living in conditions of insecurity, poverty and poor health. In this project, the successful candidate will join an internationally recognised team of researchers to explore and evaluate the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-based technologies to collect rapid, real-time data to inform herd health and infectious disease surveillance and control programmes in livestock populations.

We are interested in applications from veterinary graduates (or science graduates with a minimum 2:1 degree), and an interest in interdisciplinary work (engineering, physics, law).

    For further information please contact:
    Dr. Lisa Boden (lisa.boden@glasgow.ac.uk) or
    Dr. George King (george.king@glasgow.ac.uk) or
    Dr. Lorenzo Viora (Lorenzo.viora@glasgow.ac.uk)

The closing date for applications is the 1st December 2017.
Please apply online, noting Dr. Boden as the Principal Investigator, and entering the PhD title as listed above in the programme description box of the online application form:
